Summer Dresses 2008
The catwalks for this season highlighted a growing desire to be feminine, to get away from wearing jeans and tshirts and
to explore the world of skirts and gowns.

Alberta Ferretti showed a selection of lightweight pastel numbers, whilst Stella McCartney provided viewers with an array of
different floral designs.

This trend is easy to find in the highstreets this summer, and ought to be one of your first trend-buys this year.

But beware, some floral designs can date quickly, so be careful about the prints you pick, and make sure you buy quality
fabrics with floral prints, as it can look cheap.
Grecian designs are another fave of the season, using the most flimsy fabrics and light colours.
Ruching is set to be huge again, bringing detail to the parts of the body that need more attention,
and carefully drawing the eye away from irritating or unsightely body parts. Keep the fabrics clean
and light, and don't be afraid to mix a calm
floral pattern into the dress. Put some chunky wedges
on with this dress and you will look perfectly on-trend.

The neckline of the summer is the
twist back halter, which creates an inverted triangle shape
with the fabric. This is especially flattering on those with small busts, as it looks elegant and
expensive. Team this neckline with a short hem on the skirt for the ultimate in young and sexy
looks.

The colours of this season are purple and yellow, so stock up. Everyone looks good in dark purple so
don't be afraid to wear it with pride, but be careful with yellow, as this only suits certain skin types. Try out
new colors this summer, and reflect an inner happiness and confidence.

Accessories this summer are important, with shoes making the top of the list of things to buy. Wedges
and sparkly/gladiator
sandals are popular, in staple colours like brown or gold. Wearing the same pair of
comfy flip-flops this season is totally acceptable, giving a relaxed edge to your overall look.

Choose chunky jewellery if you are big boned, and
dainty jewels if you are more petite. Make a
statement with you jewellery instead of having it blend into your outfit; buy expensive pieces in
memorable places in order to have a real story to tell post-compliment.
Bulk buy strappy tops to layer underneath this seasons dresses to give it a more personal edge. These
will be invaluable with the light see-through fabrics that can be found in most stores at the moment.

Oversized
sunglasses go with everything, but make sure they have UV protection in order to make them
worth paying for. Pop on your shades as you leave the house, and prop them on your head when you go
inside...you'll feel like a million dollars.

Keep hair and make-up relaxed,
clean and minimal for a great summer look. Recreate Gianni
Versace's looks for S/S 2008 which gave each girl glowing skin, fresh blow-dried hair and lipbalmed
lips.
